A developer of executive homes has embraced renewables and includes them in all new build projects as he believes it gives an added incentive to buyers when they know their new house will be cheap to run with reduced carbon emissions. He wanted to make the properties as eco-friendly as possible which was an integral part of the marketing campaign. There was a viewing day in mid-March and both properties were sold on the day, proving that including renewable technologies really can make the difference.
The two houses are built side by side on the edge of a small town in Wiltshire. They are built to a high spec with good quality kitchens and fittings. RDC installed an underfloor heating system throughout the ground floor with radiators upstairs. The heating and hot water is provided by a 12kW Dimplex air source heat pump which is located in a passage to the side of the property where they cannot be seen or heard.
