The new owners of a beautiful Cotswold stone house wanted to refurbish the building and make it more sustainable for the future.
They approached RDC to provide an efficient solution to provide heating and hot water for the property and remove oil completely.
RDC installed 2 x 16kW air source heat pumps to provide the heating to all floors through an underfloor system, and to include 500L of hot water. The house was very secluded and peaceful so the heat pumps were housed at the rear of the property in a wooden slatted housing that allowed for sufficient air movement and to remove all noise when the heat pumps are running.
The results of the refurbishment are stunning. The property is built with thick stone walls which have been insulated internally, insulation has been included in all floors and ceilings where possible and windows have been double glazed but kept in the traditional leaded style. There is an aga in the kitchen and a wood burner in the sitting room, and as a result the heating is being run at a very efficient 35 degrees throughout. The owners are now receiving in excess of £3,500 pa in domestic RHI payments for the installation over the next 7 years.
